Some may be against the aftermarket hitch idea, but I installed the 12' hidden hitch myself (took about 1.5 - 2 hrs) as I only needed it for a bike rack. I did this because my wife when using the Q cannot reach the roof and I wanted something easy for her when she takes her bike along.
It looks pretty great and the best part is I can remove it anytime..No cutting or any such thing of the bumper. Main reason was price just FYI. Its 200 vs the 800+ installation from the dealer.

Do they sell the piece that you insert to take the bikes? How many bikes will it hold?
Thanks

The hitches come in either 2in or 1.25 inch. When you get a bike rack you can get either size (amazon.com) and have loads to choose from. I bought a 3 bike one that swings out so it doesnt block with back from opening. Works like a charm.

I think that when people buy the car they will know who you are and why one put the hitch on . Never crossed my mind that it would diminish the value.

Thank you. There's a thread about it on here. Strange that Audi left the job unfinished. As my contractor would say, "we'll rough it in for you".

Good point - still some psychological hangup about cutting into anything on the car :-) though some of the examples here are first rate jobs!
