Default Question regarding maintenance

Hi everyone,

My Q5 is reaching 5000 miles soon(have 350 miles left), and I may need to go on a long trip that will for sure go above 5000 miles(trip is around 600 miles).

I have few questions regarding this.

1. Can I do the 5000 miles maintenance before I reach 5000 miles? If so, what is the minimum mile I should reach before doing maintenance?

2. Can I do maintenance after I exceed 5000 miles? How many miles can I exceed before the car really needs maintenance?

3. I am going on a trip to another state. Can I get free 5000 miles maintenance from another state? If I could get maintenance on my way to another state, I am willing to do so.

4. How long does the 5000 miles maintenance take?

Thank you!

yes you may. it is all up to you. but dealers will ask you to come in @ 5000miles for the first oil change.

2. Can I do maintenance after I exceed 5000 miles? How many miles can I exceed before the car really needs maintenance?
yes you can do your own maintenance after you exceed 5000 miles.
its all on you on the maintenance.

3. I am going on a trip to another state. Can I get free 5000 miles maintenance from another state? If I could get maintenance on my way to another state, I am willing to do so.
some dealers will allow you to do so. check with the dealer that you bought the car from

4. How long does the 5000 miles maintenance take?
usually the whole day depending on their schedule. They will offer you a loaner car.

Wait I have to ask the dealer shop I bought my car from to do maintenance at another dealer shop?

The dealer shop I bought the car from is very far away from my house. I only bought it there because they offered me good price. However, I do have closer audi dealer/service center nearby which I would like to get my maintenance from. Is that not possible?

Yes you can do it before the 5K miles, and you should shave it done before 6 months regardless of miles.

Personally I'd do the service before the trip, for the oil change, and be sure all the fluids are topped off, bolts torqued, etc.

I suppose you could, I don't see why not.

I had my 14 TDI in for the 5K service and it took about 90 minutes.

Do it before your trip and you get your first and last tire rotation from Audi also.

^^^ +1 You're close enough to 5k. Do it now and be done with it. In my case, I was at 4000 mi and had a 1000 mile trip to see relatives. I used the Audi dealer near my relatives at 5000 miles and didn't have any issues. Took roughly 90 minutes.

Any dealer can perform maintenance or warranty repairs. The 5000 mile service is paid by Audi so any dealer would be happy to do it. Same is true if you buy Audi Care. The included maintenance can be used at any Audi dealer in the country of origin. As others have posted, if you only have 350 miles left to hit the 5K mile mark, it's best to get it done before you leave on your trip. If you get an appt. with the service dept., they should be able to get it done and have you back on the road in an hour or two.

It was less than two hours to have the 5000 mile service done. That included having the car washed by hand and a little buffing for a scratch.

I took mine in for the 5k service at around 4.5k. it only took about 90 minutes. I waited and was on my way quickly.
