Default Rear crankshaft seal leaking

Hello fellow members, I'd appreciate your advice on the following,

My Q5 2010 3.2 has just had the 85k mile service at my independent shop - not Audi dealership, and I've been advised that there is an oil leak - just "drops" from the rear crankshaft seal. I have the Platinum extended warranty with Fidelity up to 100k miles but I'm not sure if it'll cover the repair. My guy at the shop thinks it will and suggested that I take the car to the dealership.

Does anyone has had this issue with their Q, don't you guys think that this is premature? Should I wait longer for the leak to "grow" or deal with it right now?

Thanks as always,

Analila

Why don't you and the dealer find a convenient time to do it after you ensure Fidelity is going to cover you ?

I will, made appointment for Thursday. Is this a quote from Fidelity Platinum policy? I'll check my policy as soon as I get home tonight. Thanks for your prompt reply.

Had the same thing with my 2014 at around 9,000 miles although mine is a 2.0. Dealer replaced under warranty. No issues whatsoever since.

4 weeks, but some of that time was waiting for the part. They did give me a nice new A4 to drive the whole time.

Update:

I dropped my car at dealer's last Thursday, just got a called from them informing that the repair has been authorized by Fidelity, my car will be ready tomorrow. They had already dropped the transmission between Friday-Monday though. They also did loan me a nice A4 SLine. I hope all is well, I will let you know in time.

Warm regards,
