I didn't have any idea there was a chip in there!
Sounds like they are using inductive reading to get the authorization code from the chip then. That makes sense.

Audi will install me an aftermarket one keeping my warranty ok !
they provide me a signed paper telling me that they(audi) install it and the warranty is still good.

Would you mind sharing exactly which remote starter the Audi dealer is installing for you? I'm looking for a remote starter myself with the cold months coming up fast.
