Default SD card max capacity?

Anyone know what the max capacity of SD card can be used for the audio system? also what audio formats are recognized? Will the B&O recognize FLAC or ALAC files?

Officially, 32 GB is the max, but unoficially, I've seen people on here reported that 128 GB cards worked, too, at least on the most recent MMI units. You did not mention what year your Q5 is. I personally experimented with a 64GB card, and it worked, too. You just have to make sure the card is formatted as FAT32.

Supported formats are MP3, WMA, and AAC/M4A, 320 kbps max. Lossless formats are not supported.

I have a 64GB in my late '13 without issue. Unfortunately, the file system management leaves a lot to be desired. I end up importing to MMI so I can randomize by song which limits my capacity more than the SD

BlackSVT, out of curiosity (as I don't use it), what is the storage capacity of the MMI jukebox?

I think sales rep told me it's 40 Gb on 2016 SQ5, but I think it's the same across the board.

I'll have to look after work to verify, but I seem to remember it being 20GB available for music on mine. The nav and other stuff takes up the rest of the drive.

It's been a while, but I also think there was a number of songs limit as well when I imported.

It definitely has it's quirks, but I do use it when I'm not streaming or listening to other sources. Sound quality w/the B&O is as good as SD IMO

The maximum capacity of an SD card is 2GB, never more.

Now, if some sloppy Audi person told you the system uses SD cards, they were mistaken. Audi uses SDHC cards, which top out at 32GB. The next step up are SDXC cards, which currently can be had in 128GB and 256GB maximum sizes, but the standard for them is way higher than that.

With a stock AMI system (MMI might do better) you can put an SDXC card in the slot, but anything located after the first 32GB on the card is simply not recognized.

On the other hand, if you use an AMI cable in the glove box with a USB connection? Much larger sizes can be used with no problem. 128GB or 256GB USB sticks among them.

Will MMI meet the full SDXC standard? That's two terabytes.(G)

Or is it a crippled version, up to 64GB like most cell phones?

Someone on here tested a 128GB SDXC card. He said it worked.
