Default Side by Side

Anyone have any side by side pics of a Q5 and SQ5 for comparisons sake?

The white one on the right is the SQ5. You can see the badge on the front grill.

The horizontal lines on the grille on the SQ5 make it look much lower/wider or is the car actually lower, or maybe it's just the camera angle. The SQ5's mirrors are really nice.

I think it's the camera angle as well as how we perceive horizontal lines vs vertical lines. Checked the Audi USA site and it says the width for both models including mirrors is 82.2in, and height difference is negligible (SQ5 @ 65.3 vs Q5 @ 65.2).

The SQ5 should be a tad lower. look at the wheel gap on both cars.

The SQ5 SHOULD indeed be lower (1.3" to be precise) based on Audi's original press releases - just as it is in most other markets in the world. However, in order to retain truck status for US CAFE purposes, the US SQ5 has the same ride height as all other US Q5s (but I don't hold a grudge).

The wheel gap my look different in the pic because the SQ5's wheels are wider and, at this angle appear to fill the wheel well more. The tire diameter is the same (within millimeters) thus in a side on pic, the gap in the arch is the same across the models.

From what I was reading recently, it seems like the Q3's being held up because of the same issue (needing to qualify as a light truck and failing, in its case due to approach angle).

Seems like we could do a lot better on this whole CAFE thing, but manufacturers would balk if we did away with the "truck loophole". I'd just like to see them improving consumption across the board, and being able to play games with classification (like the PT Cruiser was a "light truck"... really?) doesn't really do anything. And then maybe we'd be able to have the SQ5 be a little lower if people wanted.
