just out of curiosity, but was wondering if and how it would be possible to change the SPEEDOMETER from a unit which read in kmh to mph? I know the odometer can be changed via VCDS, but if someone has instructions on how to remove the cluster and know of where to get an authentic mph background...that would be brilliant.

Helping a colleague of mine who has a 2015 Canadian Q5 and might need to import it the the states. The speedometer only reads in kmh and needs to be in mph according to our local DMV

Well a new cluster goes for about $1500 new, 300-400 used if you can find one.




In this silent video he is showing you 1 of the 2 screws that you need to remove to extract the cluster, it is simple.



Basically the same as this A4

I think that you can change the digital speedometer display to mph...somewhere in the MMI setup.

The poster seems to state above that his local DMV requires that the actual cluster MPH numerals be shown.

Yes you are correct and possibly many of you are over-thinking this. i'm not looking to put a new instrument cluster, although the install isn't that hard you may need to remove component protection and other issues, plus the mileage would be different. Furthermore, being able to display the digital speedometer isn't what I'm interested in. The actual speedometer needs to be able to show in miles vs showing kmh, therefore I'd like to change the face of this:


Was wondering if you all are familiar with a product such as this for the Q5:

I can then help remove the cluster, open it up, and install the new mph face.
