I find it difficult to get more than low-twenties MPG no matter how gentle I'm driving it on the highway, backroads, etc. Mid-teens if I'm on it. Overall average a tick or two under twenty. I think its the supercharger. Unlike a turbo, it's always "ON." All my cars before this one were high-revving normally aspirated engines and I could short-shift them to keep RPM lows and MPG higher when I need to go easy until finding a gas station. This engine doesn't appear to have that ability. The good news is you shouldn't feel too guilty getting on the throttle. You might as well enjoy it. You are going to get crappy MPG anyway. Have fun doing it!

Just did ~220 miles on I-10 between Tucson & Phoenix. Avg speed 74mph with 23.5mpg. I'm more than OK with that.

BTW it was an effortless drive; only stresses were at least a dozen highway patrol sightings. Thank you V-1.

Steve

Even my old 2.0T Avant didn't get that good of a gas mileage in town...especially with the 19" summer tires.

HWY was near 30, but if you do a lot of stop and go / in town, it's not that good.

Okay that's more like it. It sounds like for the most part, we are experiencing similar numbers. For local driving, we are getting 12-18 MPG. On the freeway, 20-25 MPG. So depending on how mixed your driving will be, then that might average out to the high teens or low twenties. Those numbers aren't too bad.

I'm driving down to LA in a couple weeks in the SQ5, so that will give me some good highway numbers since it is almost 400 miles in each direction.

After nearly 1000 miles on the odometer, I was finally able to get on the freeway with the SQ over the past week and my mileage numbers "soared" to almost 25 mpg. More than double what I'm getting around town. I'm happy knowing there's not something wrong (other than the traffic impaired speeds of my daily driving) resulting in my typical 12mpg. On the bright side, 91 octane is still a lot cheaper than 100LL AvGas!

I now have over 3,500 miles on the odometer. After many miles on the freeway driving down to LA in my SQ5 over the weekend, I had a calculated efficiency between 21-23mpg. On pure freeway, this car can get you over 400 miles on a full tank of gas. On mostly in town driving, I'm much closer to 250-275 miles.

Took my first decent highway trip yesterday and today from Seattle to Portland and back. Out of 360 miles, averaged 27.6 mpg according to the computer. Average speed was probably 70 mph (between 60-80), terrain was up and down but overall flat, no wind or rain, and temp 54F. Call me impressed. I expected to get about 24 mpg. I haven't filled up and logged this on Fuelly yet, but then I'll know my real MPG.
