SQ5 Pano Roof Rattles
#11
My 2014 SQ5 is rattle free (so far...). I have about 12,000 miles on it and it will be a year old in November. No rattles in the pano or the rear hatch cover (since I installed some well placed felt...).

I just had my sunroof frame replaced last week. It developed this popping noise. The noise would go away after the sunroof was tilted and then come back. So far so good, but I have to drive some more to be sure.
BTW:I have to say, my dealer so far has been awesome to work with.

My 2014 SQ5 is rattle free (so far...). I have almost 20,000 miles on it and it is 15 months old. No rattles in the pano or the rear hatch cover (since I installed some well placed felt...).

No rattles or squeaks yet after 1400 miles. I hate rattles and squeaks! It would be a compelling reason for me to sell the car if this ever did become an issue!

My '13 3.0T with 5,000 miles had a rattle when the sunroof screen was closed, though it was intermittent. I had it checked last month, and there was Technical Service Bulletin 2038029/1 out on the sunroof. Turns out there are known issues with the pano sunroof - in my case there was a problem with the points of contact between the cover trim frame and the clips that hold it to the headliner. They removed the glass panels and installed adhesive fleece tape. It was a labor intensive fix that took a couple hours, but it seems to have taken care of my rattles.

For me I noticed it after temperature changes so I figured it must be something to do with the fit. Solution was to fully open and close the sunroof. The rattles were never that loud but enough to annoy you.

My rattles in the roof are pretty terrible. Makes me wish I didn't have the pano roof. I'm gonna get one of these: Stick Lubricants « Product Categories « AGS Company
