You need to...either the 255/50 or the 235/55.
The 255's will have the same footprint as your 21's.
The 235/50's above will still be short, although only by 2.5%.

Yea I'm gone stick with the 255 there only like $8 more. I think the 235s will look funny . Even do they are better for snow.

Just to keep the thread alive. I just got back from a trip to the mountains in the SQ5 with 255/50R18 blizacks on the car (the tire rack recomentpded winter set-up) and holy hell. 50-0 under hard breaking on icy snow pack and not a skid, slither, or ABS moment. Those tires make that SQ5 stick like glue.

Dunlop vs. Pirelli
So...
My OEM Pirelli's (21") got retired... long story... had a road trash hit my passenger side rear wheel and put a hole in the tire and wheel. Long story short, when I was going to have them replace the wheel and tire... assuming that at 12,000 miles my Pirellis were still good (I basically drive back and forth from my home to my girl friends place).
However, the dealership said I could leave without replacing all four wheels. Umm... what? The Pirelli OEM tire are done at 12k? I have had them rotated every 5k. Regardless, apparently you can't change one tire out when the rest are near the end.
So, given that the Pirelli's didn't last long... I went with the Dunlop... Cheaper... last longer...
However, here is my short short review of the difference...
Not as tight... I miss the Pirelli "lip" that protects the wheels in the 1 out of 100 times you mess up parallel parking. The Dunlops are "squishy."
They bow out from the rim/wheel... the Pirelli's went in and where stiff. Everything now just seems more bouncy.
Anyone else have an issue with the tires going out so quick?

I used up most of my original Pirellis on the track one weekend, but they are still okay nearing 12K miles.
Now, when I say "okay," I mean they need to be replaced, but for what these beeotches cost, I'm sure I can get another thousand out of them.

Sorry for bouncing this thread, but after going thru the thread, here's the size that seem to be compatible with the 21" on the SQ5 stock:
275/35/21 (my current winter tires)
265/40/21
255/40/21 (OEM size) (cheapest about 1600USD for four)
265/45/21
Since my original Pirelli lasted one season (about 15000km), I am not willing to waste 2800$ on tires every year (the price in Canada!).
The cheapest I found are these on tirerack:
265/40ZR21
Pirelli P Zero Max Performance Summer
Z Speed Rated
Set of 4: $1,140.00 USD
or
265/40ZR21
Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Crossover/SUV Touring All-Season
Set of 4: $1,184.00 USD
any other options or suggestions?
I prefer all season just because our weather here is unpredictable.

I too purchased the 265/40ZR-21 Pirelli P Zeros. But I don't like how the sidewall is rounded a bit on my 9" S8 wheels -- not just esthetically but they also appear to wear more heavily there as a result.
How do you like the 275 width?
Do you have any pics you can share?
