Default Tschüss Q5 / Hallo Ford Edge

Reasons:
1) The lease on a new Edge is 1/2 the cost
2) No need for a VCDS to perform routine maintenance
3) More confidence in vehicle dependability
4) Full warranty. With 6 months left on the Q5 lease and 38,000 miles on the odometer, I fear any repair cost might be enormously expensive
5) Dealer is in town instead of 35 miles away
6) The Edge has a mechanically actuated emergency brake, an important safety feature.

I would like to thank others on this forum that helped me understand further the simplicity of the front brake pad replacement. It saved me a lot of time and money.

I rented an Edge recently. Glad I purchased an Audi!

It is impossible to compare, different classes of cars

"More confidence in vehicle dependability" - NO COMMENT

I had a Ford two years and never again

Good luck with your choice

According to Consumer Reports from their Owner Surveys, reliability on the Edge is "Well Below Average", which is their lowest rating.

The only thing the OP has contributed on here was to complain about how he couldn't reset the service interval reminder on his inherited Q5. Good riddance.

I've owned many Fords since 1978. Although I've only driven this Q5 for a month, it has been to the Audi dealer more times than any of the Fords I've owned.

Not correct. See my posts on the Q5 front brake job, https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho....php?t=2854325

Oh, and I also expressed a concern over a non-mechanical emergency brake.

It is pretty hard to believe that a $350 VCDS or a trip to the dealer is required to reset the service interval reminder.

Are you always this cordial?

Like the difference between a Supermodel and the girl next door.

Which one can you depend on?

Do you know the difference between preimum class cars and other???

Ford is in a class: Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Honda, Nissan .....
Exist cheaper cars than the Ford Edge, buy and enjoy yourself.

All new modern cars have EPB, if you do not like it that's your problem ( Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari......have EPB) Yes it is a serious problem
You've become boring with repetition of mechanical parking brake

It is true you do not need VCDS, but you need this: Ford VCM IDS Rotunda or Ford VCM II, or Ford KM tool and more................

Your money, your choice .... good luck

About $10,000. There is no objective definition, only subjective, mainly by the automotive press.

But I would say any car with power windows, air conditioning, leather seats, alloy wheels, and other convenience items would be a premium class car.

Is Volkswagen a premium car? Must be, because there are parts on the Q5 with a Volkswagen logo.

I totally agree that a Q5 is more stable at high speeds than a Ford Edge. But here in the US, it is not possible to drive more than 130 KPH (80 MPH) for extended periods.
