Default buying a Q5

Hi everyone! I need your input....Audi has always been my dream car, i am looking to buy my first Q5, looking around for the best deal, i found one that was a service loaner at a dealer, it is a 2011, 16,000 miles on it, they are asking a little over $38,000. Do you guys think that I will be laughed at if i offer $20,000 and my 2002 ford explorer xlt with 106,000 on it? What would be a fair offer?
Thanks! )

Yes, you'll be laughed at. I couldn't tell you what a reasonable offer would be. Your best bet is to find out what comparable models sell for in your area.

I'll be surprised if they show any interest in your Exploder...but maybe they'll offer you $4K if you're lucky. And if you can talk them down to $36,750 for their Q5 then coupled with your $20,000 you'd only be off by $12,750. This, not including TTL and other misc fees.
They probably won't laugh but they might wonder what you've been smoking...
Nah, they'll laugh first and wonder later.

ha,ha,ha! yes, i try to look for the best prices....always. This time i feel like i might be aiming too high to want an audi Q5, could be out of my league, but seriously i've had my explorer for 8 years now and it is time to replace it.

That's a lotta miles/drivers on a service car. Thing has probably been thrashed pretty good and you know it wasn't broke in. I've had Audi loaners with only a couple of k on them that had clearly been abused. I wouldn't touch it with a 10 ft pole. You're better off finding a one owner private sale.

I bought a service loaner in CA in December 2011. 2011 Q% Premium with 6,000 miles, only options are the sunroof and ipod setup. I paid $35K plus TTL.

Check to see when Qs are going to start coming off lease. At that point there should be an inventory.

Right, I would never advise anyone buying a loaner or rental car. I don't know about you guys, but I definitely don't try to "take care" of a loaner car. I'll probably try to test the limits of the car, which I have no long-term commitment ment to. As long as the car is running and it doesn't blow up under my hands, then that's all I really care about.
