My Q5 is in for this recall today. I was told if pump flange is cracked or yellowed new pump. Otherwise, a small pad is installed.

Audi was great with fixing mine, I wrote an email to Audi America way before the recall was announced due to the smell of gasoline. They called me back next day, told me to drop it off at my Audi dealer, and they replaced fuel pump free of charge. Since than I have not smelled any gasoline, no issues, totally fixed and made right...

So if your fuel pump flange is not cracked or have any yellowing then the fix is to install a protective foil film along with (2) grommets. Campaign 20W9
If it is cracked or yellowing then new fuel pump.
Foil film for me today.

Been a while, and pretty straight forward I remember. Evap emissions tubes involved. I would have had the car back to the dealer ASAP. It would be pretty hard for them to deny they didn't cause the issue.
