Hi all, I'm looking to replace my 2013 Passat TDI SEL Prem. with another TDI vehicle, my turbo failed recently. And it seems to be a trend with the Passat TDI's. The turbo failed when I was on the interstate and almost got rear ended 3 times, b/c I couldn't accelerate fast enough to get of the following traffic's way, it was such a safety hazard. So now I'm window shopping around, I still want a diesel due to the fuel efficiency. So I don't see any threads on TDI club about turbo failures in the Q5/Q7 TDI's, but I thought I would ask anyway here in Audi World, has anyone have/had turbo issues or failures? Thanks in advance!

This is a problem with once series 2.0TDI engine(140PS), it is not a problem with the engine 3.0TDI which is in Q5 or 2.0TDI (177PS)- this engine not for U.S. market

Even then, it is not exactly a common occurrence, I've never heard of it.

Not sure if you were referring to the 3.0 TDI or just TDI's in general.....if you were talking about TDI's in general have a look at these two threads over in TDICLUB.

Passat TDI's are having quite an uptick on failing turbos, mine included.

fwiw I sold my '03 Jetta tdi 5-sp last August, 118k on the clock, no turbo problems at all. All services were done at the VW dealership except the glow plugs I replaced.
