2014 Q5 TDI First Oil change issues
#21
Truly unbelievable! When Spijun has incorrect info, I throw in the towel! (Or is it the right part # and ECS just makes the wrong size?) And all over a basic dipstick. ECS Tuning is still selling the 059115611AM part.
Tdifan and Richwaz (and anyone else who bought one), I suspect you'll be calling ECS Tuning and having a "discussion" with them. I wonder how many of these things they've sold. If this indeed the wrong part, ECS better get out in front of it...
As for me, I believe I got the AB version, which as I mentioned earlier is also too long. When I got the wrong part, I figured I'd just keep it for other Audis I might get down the line and recalibrate to their MMI.
Yoshi, I could indeed throw mine in the trash and be good just using the MMI. I set the car level, use the drain plug, and put in 6.7 Qts each time. Always know what I took out and put in. I got it for the 5000 mi oil change and any future dealer oil changes. Reason I like it is to avoid a pitfall I've read around the internet. That is, the dealer does the vacuum-oil-out-the-top route and doesn't get out all the oil, then puts in 6.4 L. (My local dealer confided they've done that twice and that they now only use the drain plug.) MMI reads full, but it's really overfilled.

Oh well, this story hopefully will end. After a trip to the dealer - i was told the dipstick is too long. So, the tech who did thee oil change, went by dipstick measure and not by the MMI . This time, they did add oil and now the MMI reads full and the above described dipstick reads "above Max".
I will appreciate any input. Should I "calibrate" the dipstick by marking the level now? Or is thete a "real" dipstick for Q5 3.0 TDI. Sarajevo friend, please step in .
Thanks!

My friend uses in his A4 3.0TDI MY2012 oil dipstick :059115611AB
Diesel engines do not have a problem with oil consumption, as petrol turbo engines

Just checked my part # on the orange handle. It is in fact 059 115 611 AB. When I first got it, I could hear it hit the bottom of the oil pan. FWIW, the 2014 Q5 3.0 TDI engine code is CPNB.

I checked the ECS Website and it states that part number 059 115 611 AM is a "Genuine VW/Audi" part.
I suspect that this part number (059 115 611 AM) is not the correct dipstick to use in the 2014 Q5 3.0 TDI engine.

Thanks again Spijun. Time to poke around the other models' forums and see if anyone else has had this issue, or for that matter if *any* dipstick has worked for their 2014 CPNB engine. Not sure why this has to be sooooo hard, but it is what it is....

When I started this, I did expect some buzz . I do hope to get to the bottom of it.
Spijun, I do understand the 3.0 engines are essentially the same on all the above mentioned models. I am not sure (no way of me knowing since this is definitely not my field) if the oil pan is the same, lets's say for A4 and Q5 (sedan vs. SUV). At the end of the day, I think it's not the end of the world if we all have to re-calibrate our "VAG" dipsticks. Though, if this is the case, we may just develop a DIY dipsticks and not pay for "VAGs", instead, by a cheap one for a domestic car and just do the markings. Doesn't seem such a tough task .

Spijun, I do believe it.
Now, what would be your suggestion then? The ECS dipstick is supposed to be the righ one for my Q5 TDI. On the other hand, when the oil level is at Max on it, the MMI reads low, as I already pointed out. I can always mark the level it reads no and this will be the "new" Max level. If thats right, than, I guess, I can "shift" the Min level up by the respective distance between Max/Min.
Thanks for your input.
