2017 Q5 2.0T or 3.0
New to this forum and look forward to reading through the posts. I'm in the market for a Q5 and had the opportunity to test drive 2.0T. Seemed to have enough power and was a true joy to drive. Need to go test drive the 3.0, but was wondering for those who have driven both, is the extra cost 3.0 worth the added performance. I've read in one review that 2.0T actually handles better than the 3.0; the article did not say why. Any insight between the 2.0T and 3.0 would be much appreciated.

Absolutely worth it. The car overall just feels more luxurious because the 3.0T just runs so much smoother and quieter. With that said, the majority of Q5s sold are the 2.0T.

I've only had Q5's as service loaners but in my opinion the 2.0t just isn't enough engine. The 3.0t feels adequate and the low end torque is much better in everyday driving.

We are very happy with our 2016 2.0. We used to have high HP BMW's and drove them hard. Kind of got that out of our system. I think the 8 speed transmission does a very good job of keeping the 2.0 in its powerband. I think the 2017's will be lighter and have a little more horsepower out of the 2.0 which should noticeably improve performance. Slightly more turbo noise in a 2.0 but not irritating to me. Slightly better miles per gallon witt 2.0. Probably cheaper to own if you keep your vehicles for a long time.
Easy to service and repair the 2.0 if you do your own work. Likely and cheaper to repair the 2.0 once out of warranty.
Resale likely higher for 3.0, but you also pay more upfront.
So test drive a 2017 and see what you think.

"The company will demonstrate new parts here, so it is expected that a new 2.0-liter TFSI with a capacity of 190 HP will be set in the initial configuration. The manufacturer assures its high efficiency – the expense will be only 6-7 liters per 100 km, or around 37 mpg. It will be much more economical than the version with 252 HP, which is also installed in this unit with an engine displacement of 2 liters."

Welcome to the AW forum and fwiw, this q has been asked numerous times so you may want to search the forum for it, but here is a good examination of the merits of the 2.0 vs 3.0 Q5s:
