The fact that the SQ5 is delivered with such low HP for a "high performance" SUV is an embarrassment to the marque. I'm sure BMW and Benz got a giggle. Good to hear it can be fixed though.

Sweet ignorance bro. The SQ5's competition is the X3 and X4 35i and the Macan S.

Guess what? It has more HP than every one one of these- and at a ~13.4~ 102 bone stock, its faster than all of those as well.

You could MAYBE argue on price that the GLA45AMG is competition as well- though that is really competition for the not yet for the US RSQ3. Nonetheless, same HP as the SQ5.

Only the Macan Turbo has more horsepower and is quicker - and its so much more expensive when similarly optioned its hard to imagine they would be legitimately cross shopped. The X5 &6M, Cayenne Turbos, ML63s, Range Rover RSRs, etc are much larger and more expensive. The forthcoming SQ7 will be the closest legitimate competitor Audi has.

Market segment, cost and size are irrelevant in the context of my post's premise, i.e., when you compare the highest performance SUV's from the 3 German automakers, Audi's rig is a kitten.

Yes when you compare vehicles on a totally irrelevant plane you have a point. Every automaker is total trash compared to Chrysler because no one else has a 707HP sedan! God, when will those complacent Germans learn?!

Anyways, as I said the SQ7 has been all but confirmed and the standard Q7 is to get the 4.0T so your point will be further mooted soon.

I will say that I hope Audi has a proper response to the rumored GLK63 by the time it gets here.

When you look at all the factors: Speed, Handling, Looks, Interior, Fuel Economy, Cost of Ownership...The SQ5 made most sense to me. There are others with more HP, more prestige, and better 0-60 times...but in comparing the entire ownership...it's no contest.
I don't know what you're driving, but I have a hard time calling any vehicle thst will do 0-60 in 5 seconds and a 13.5 E.T. a kitten, especially when it's an SUV

I think Elevens is just rattling our cage.
If he was looking for something in that size, that price range, with that (potential) fuel economy and a hell of a lot more power than any Subaru or Toyota, then certainly he couldn't possibly be so foolish as to not seriously consider the SQ5. Right Elevens??? You're not really a big ol' fool, right? So you must just be rattling our cage.

Guys. Stop the reading between the lines! I love the SQ5. No argument from me that it's a fun car that strikes a great performance/luxury/price balance.

This thread is about horsepower. Lots and lots of horsepower. All I wrote was that when you compare the top high performance SUVs of the 3 German automakers, the SQ5 falls (far) short IN THE HORSEPOWER WAR. I never challenged luxury, price, value, panache, segment class, etc. Falsely accused! Have mercy!
