Default Center AC Vent Removal

Hey all,
I'm trying to remove the center air vent since one of the horizontal louvers came loose and the plastic guide also came out. Does anyone have a tips for removal.
Thank you

You should always list your model year, engine, trim level, etc. when asking for help as I needed to hunt down your past posts to see that you have a 2009.

Ok, noted. Thanks.
And thanks for the reply. I'm assuming the hook tools are something that needs to be purchased from Audi?

Or bent up from simple coat hanger wire, I would think. (Damned Yankees, failing to use authorized special service tools(G).

Default Center Console AC vent repair/replace

After pulling my 2012 Q5 front AC vent to try to repair I realized that this is a relatively sealed unit and if the plastic fins are broken it is best to replace. I purchased a replacement vent off of eBay for $47 and just installed it. Biggest issue was the plug is buried above and to the left however with some maneuvering you are able to pull the plug down allowing you to easily replace the unit. Highly recommend a replacement vs. trying to fix the vents, just based on my experience.

I was able to push away the foam with my finger to make the hole big enough for the wire connector to come down. Definitely was not made for users to replace but likely would be a nice hourly labor rate for Audi to do it. if you ever break a visor clip just buy new ones off Amazon, a 2 minute fix that will cost you $10. Did my first one with Audi way back when and it was $75.
