Wow that's some great German efficiency. Compare that to Obama Motors (General Motors). According to the book "All Corvettes are Red", only 5 parts were used across all models at GM and most of those were warning stickers. The epidomy of inefficiency. They should have let existing bankruptcy rules sort out that whole rotten mess.

Thanks spijun! That would be good news for those wanting to go with a bigger disc. Hope Reggie can chime in with his experience

It appears that the larger rotors (and caliper carriers) were meant for the Q5 3.0 TDI (which isn't available in the US). Furthermore, rotor sizes seem to match up to the S4. Not sure if the offsets for the rotors are the same? If they are the same, we might be also able to use 2-piece rotors meant for the S4 (provided the larger caliper carriers were used)?

Spijun, can you help me find out if the dust shields (item 9 - cover plate for brake disc) have the same part number for every engine (2.0T / 3.2 / 3.0TDI)?

This might be a good alternative to improving braking performance without going all out on a BBK (upgrading both front and rear to preserve braking balance). Any input/suggestions?

Thanks!!!
As a update - I have the parts for the fronts but not the rears yet. Will do it all at once but being old I am not as fast as I should be in getting the parts. I will update everyone when I order the new parts for the rear.

If I'm not mistaken you'll need to have a different caliper carrier to move the calipers out to accept the larger discs. The carriers are the main cost driver here. Not the discs!!

And those things costs a small fortune.

edit: I think it's already been mentioned that you'll need the S4 carriers to use the bigger discs.
edit: wrong, not S4 carriers.

Why did you mention S4
For you information Q5 has its brake caliper housing.
It is used only for the Q5 and the price in Europe is 300 Euros a piece

I stand corrected. But the carriers would still have to be changed out to accept the bigger discs, correct?
I have not looked in the parts catalog to see whether the S4 carriers are the same. I thought they would be since they are essentially the same car under the skin but with bigger discs. But I guess I'm wrong!

Yep... new Q5 upgraded carriers (last I checked) were about $150/ea for each corner. But that would allow for lightweight rotors like this:

Haven't seen anything lightweight so far for the rear rotors yet.

Weight is not so much important for the Q5 because it's not a sports car

The price is too high.
This is just to compare prices

Another incredible information:
"These rotors as a ship left and right with proper directional venting, unlik the stock OEM rotors Which use a left side rotor on both sides of the vehicle.
Audi engineers have made a big mistake they still do not know about it, perhaps we ought to inform them

Haha... just realized the description of that site, good catch!

JHM also has 2-piece rotors for the B8 platform:

Very true on the high cost since most people will not be taking the Q5 to the race track. And if they do, a BBK might be a better choice.
