Would be curious, does the Q5 have 2 different brake master cylinder parts (one for the larger brakes and one for the smaller brakes)?

Default 2011 Q5 front brake upgrade?

Hi Reggie!

I see that you had the parts for the front awhile back.

Did you complete the job?

The dealer just informed me that I needed a $650 brake job, so no better time to upgrade b/c it seems like the newer (just a year newer) has significantly better braking; like 14-20 feet better from 60 to 0 !

So I want the bigger rotors and I see that the caliper brackets/carriers are obviously needed.

I looked up the part numbers given and I may have gotten it wrong but 8K0615125A and 8K06151126 seems to refer to the earlier rotor size of 330 MM but there are errors all over the place, it seems.

Which ones exactly did YOU use?

I was looking at the kits from ECS Tuning and they have a kit that consists of just 2 carriers and 2 rotors, which confirms the theory that this is all that is needed.

Unfortunately, I don't like their kit and it doesn't even include pads.

Now that I look harder, it seems like they have a kit with drilled and slotted rotors for $489.95 but NO PADS.

I was leaning more towards the Power StopZ23 Evolution available with pads for the $250 range.

Should I go that way and source the brackets elsewhere?

Can I have your intelligent thoughts please?

Thank-you in advance.

Just a letter difference but WHAT is the difference and does it matter?

Thanks,

Ben

Hi Ben, I don't know where you live, but if like me you live in Canada you'll have winter rims for your 2011 Q5. From what I understand, the larger brakes will not fit on the 18" winter OEM rims. I know this because I got my rims dirt cheap because the previous owner upgraded from a 2011 to a whichever year introduced the larger breaks....and his winter rims no longer fit :-)

Just something to keep in mind.
