DIY: Adding Back Up Camera to 2016 Q5 Premium
Alright, my sister 2016 Q5 premium with sticker price of $45k which didn't even come with a safety $50 back up camera that comes standard with all inexpensive cars these days and she still bought it.
It took me a long time to do this because there's no information that really show how everything comes out. It's actually very simple to do, anyone can do it in a very short time. I decided to make a full video on this 2016 Q5 for anyone who wants to add the camera to their $45k Q5.
Highlight of the problems encountered:
Night vision is grainy. Make sure other camera has better night vision - Day time is quite nice.
1- The yellow power wire must be plugged in to the connector above the Red power cable and tied to the ACC fuse wire and the red power wire.
2- The camera didn't come out because of the 2 tabs on the side, we pry it out and broke the tabs - Someone did mention about these tabs, but we couldn't find it especially without picture (no imagination me here).
3- The glovebox besides 7 screws inside, 2 screws under and one on the side by the fuse box - all 8MM head screws.
Cheers,
Louis

Thanks for the video. Even though install has been discussed in below thread, your video is very helpful. I just ordered the kit and will be doing the install soon.
If it helps you sleep better at night, rear view camera is not standard on a Porsche 911, BMW M3/4 and many other German cars. It is turly sad.
PS: Thanks for the video!

Just tested out the Wifi Mirror Link on MMI 2G - Will put on the Q5
for navigation from iPhone.

OK, the video and front camera on Q5 module works
with Wifi Mirroring unit but we need to modify the AMI cable to have AUX input for sound.
Cheers,
Louis
