I doubt the difference will be all that significant. Full disclosure: I drive a 2.0T Q5, my wife runs a Porsche 911 Carrera S cab. Our bills for basic maintenance (oil changes, interval service, etc.) aren't all that different. Hers is 6 cylinders vs. my 4, so obviously spark plugs & wires are more.

The Macan's other problem is the Cayenne. As others noted, a solidly equipped Macan S comes in around $66k, and easily eclipses $70k with other nice-to-have options. A Cayenne diesel -- a more practical truck with a nicer interior that's also a good drive -- costs @$70k well equipped, and you'll get much more off msrp from the dealer than on a new and high-demand Macan.
I love my Q5 TDI, but the Cayenne diesel is insanely nice and I came very close to buying it instead.

There's an old adage in the motorcycle world …
Question: "How fast do you want to go?"
Answer: "How much money do you have?"
Same applies here.

Plus there is the exclusivity factor. Last year in the U.S. alone Audi sold 40,000 Q5's and much more internationally. Granted just a fraction were SQ5's, but the body style has been around for 7 model years, so there are a lot of them on the roads.
The Macan is new and will sell in much smaller numbers due to pricing, so you won't see as many on the road.
So if you want to spend the dough, you'll have a rarer vehicle at least initially.

I drove both cars extensively before buying the SQ5, Most of what everyone said is true
The SQ5 actaully felt faster to me but I didnt clock them. The SQ5 interior and cargo was roomier and the back seat reclined which makes a huge difference in comfort. We almost bought the Macan however factoring full MSRP plus the higher cost versus supplier discount on the SQ5 we could not justify the Macan. Additonally the Audi dealer threw in Audicare. So we aree waiting for our SQ5 to arrive.
As far as the exclusivity I really don't care. I could buy either car so I based my decision on value. The same reason why I also have an Exploere Sport performance value...to me that is what matters.

Wife is currently trying to decide between a Q5 3.0T and a Macan S.
The way I see it, the Q5 is more practical - more cargo space, more headroom in the back. The Macan is faster, more fun, with higher "coolness" factor.
The Macan is slightly more expensive to insure, maintain, fuel, etc. I expect servicing and repairs to be higher on Macan as well, just because of the Porsche badge. Maybe not huge differences, but over the entire timeframe of ownership, it all adds up. Still, these are not dealbreakers, IMO.
The biggest issue I see with Macan right now is that it's a first model year and the current crop of customers are guinea pigs. When you browse some of the Macan forums, you see a number of issues that pop up. Again, none of them are particularly serious. They're mostly annoyances such as an alarm going crazy, or wipers having a mind of their own, or washer fluid tanks leaking, poorly fitted body panels, fuzzy/out-of-focus reverse camera, etc. Eventually Porsche engineers will figure out the solutions, it's just a matter of time and how many visits to the dealer it'll take to sort it all out.
Then there's the price. Through her employer, my wife can get the Q5 at invoice price. The same does not apply to the Macan, so there is some initial price difference to be considered as well. Gotta pay to play, I guess...
Going for one more test drive this weekend of both vehicles to help her decide.
