Hitch and Roof Box advice. TIA

Old thread but wondering if you had any issues with opening the rear hatch with the Thule units.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I just bought the Thule Atlantis 1600 from Auto Anyything

It fit my 2011 Q5 very well and did not cut down on my MPG on my 500 mile trip to the Outer Banks of North Carolina from Penna. I still managed to get 28.5 mpg on the trip - same as I get without the roof top carrier. I was able to fit 2 very large suitcases, a beach umbrella and another duffle bag as well. The Thule's are not cheap but come with a lifetime warranty and are half the price of the Audi carrier that is made by Thule for Audi.

We also have the Thule Boxster - swallows an amazing amount of stuff. The only thing I don't like is that the rear bar on the Audi is about 3/4" lower than the front bar - leaves the box pointing slightly skyward. With all the attention to engineering on the vehicle I'm surprised that they didn't make the rear towers 3/4" taller to account for the downward slope of the roof towards the rear of the car.
