Default Is Carbon Atlas real carbon fiber?

I've had one response to this question in another thread, but I'm not sure it was definitive. So...

Is the Carbon Atlas interior trim (SQ5) made of real carbon fiber?

What can I say? Carbon fiber is my guilty pleasure. I love some of the interior and exterior trim pieces OSIR offers, but I'd prefer the Audi option on my interior given that it includes aluminum accents to help tie it into the aluminum/silver trim pieces around the MMI screen, HVAC vents, etc.

Thanks for the help!

I would assume that it is real carbon fiber. Why would Audi choose to use a fake carbon fiber knockoff when offering it as an add-on for additional money?

I've learned to avoid making such assumptions, regardless of the brand reputation (and pricing). And I think it's rather odd that they would choose to call it "Carbon Atlas" rather than "Carbon Fiber." It makes it sound as though they're trying to slip something past the customer (i.e. "buttery spread" vs. "butter").

Regardless, I wish it was available in an unprotected, matte finish. The gloss really cheapens it, in my opinion.

Interesting thought...I clearly need to track it down for a look in person.

It is real carbon fiber.
I believe "atlas" is the weave or style. "sigma" is used for the R8
RS has another weave but I don't think it has a name just "RS-style"

Atlas would be the most common because it is available on all S models.
