i asked them to update the maps

for 2016 and older, the customer has to pay as NO MAPS are included in the 3 year guarantee. cost $500 + 1.5 hr labour

2017 + the maps can be update by the customer in the vehicle

does anyone else have any other experience?
has anyone got a free map update?

please advise before i take it in next thursday

I had a similar experience when I bought my Q5 2014 in Canada/Montreal I paid somewhere like 3000$ for a GPS that the map were 2 to 3 years old. I was a real joke.....so I complained to my dealer they said exactly what you heard....this is not our responsibility but they still ask $3000 for it.....I said no way...I called Audi customer service in Toronto, I wrote a letter to the Canadian director for Audi. I said to them that I was unhappy with the response that I received from my dealer and my car is pretty new 2 months old.....I bought a 2014 car not a 2012 with the same version of map... I had other issue like very very noisy brake pad every morning

They didn't want to change the brake but they offered me a free upgrade when the new version will be available....it took one year before it becomes available....it is way better

Please starts to complaint about it, write the letter, call Audi customer service in Toronto.... make sure that they know and on call the consumer association of your provinces to fill a complaint....

Audi build some great cars but they are ran like a corner store shop....they need to stand beside their products instead of hiding behind....I am involved in the TDI scandal....and I don't feel that they are taking care of us...we are left alone...

Please let AUdi know that you are unsatisfied

I just called audi Canada 800 822-2834/1/2/2

they basic said NO, this is a dealer issue. they would do NOTHING.
they claim this is a dealer issue. why would I pay $500 + labour for each update when my garmin with free lifetime cost <$250

You might email them. I received an email offer for $200 USD. Not sure if it was for a limited time. Still high, but far better than the $500 a dealer wants.

i just ordered today a map update from them (audiupdates), they requested also my VIN for activation code. My Q5 never got any map update and based on the numbering, i had a 2010 data even if car was 2012...... yes i did complain to my dealer and Audi Canada when i bought it but i was told to pay to get an update (no need to add my swear words here, we all know the story).

i'll keep you all poosted once i receive and install the update.

Yes, do keep us posted.

How much did you end up paying, if you don't mind telling?

I'll be taking possession of a 2017 SQ5 next week (in Quebec/Canada). What is different in the 2017 compared to 2016 MMI that makes the maps upgradeable?
