I found one on Ebay for $388 + $30 shipping from the Czech Republic.

Looking at the pictures I think this may be more than a display. There appears to be a coax port in addition to the digital connector. Perhaps the GPS receiver is integrated into this unit as well.
I think I'll continue down the path of refurbishing mine with a anti-glare screen protector.
Regards,
Scott

If that anti-glare coating rubs off or scratches so easily that simply wiping down the dash can damage it, that seems like an engineering or design flaw that needs to be corrected by Audi.
Nice to see a good fix posted though. I am a huge fan of hacks that can improve on the engineering of products.
Think Audi needs to see this thread. =) They need to see their fault and how easy it is to make something better.

I gave you the catalog numbers. You have an old number that was replaced with a new, part 4F0919604 no longer exists
Good luck
PS see the picture from a catalog

Scottndsky, if you are still working in this, I had a lot of success on an Audi A3 with satnav (admittedly not the same unit as in the Q5 but with an equally weak anti glare coating) which had exactly the same problem... I used Plast X by Meguiar's to help remove the coating, rubbing gently with a microfiber towel.
Just work slowly and patiently and don't use too much of the product - you don't want to push the Plastx X in under the frame edges where it becomes difficult to remove.

Thanks GregH! I actually took the front frame off to get better access and I managed to get most of it off. The blue stuff that was hidden by the plastic bezel was the hardest to remove for some reason. It may have been because it was never exposed. I actually left some traces of the blue stuff along the edges and corners because I was tired of rubbing.

Ah, Ok, I get it. 8R0919604 is the compatible replacement for 4F0919604. I was thinking that 4F0919604 was exclusively for earlier cars while 8R0919604 was exclusively for newer cars. Hopefully the newer part represents an improvement. If I were to source a replacement I would probably target a 8R0919604 and hope that it would resist scratching better than my 4F0919604 did.

Many Choices
The cleaned MMI screen is fairly matte all by itself. It diffuses reflected light fairly well. The blue AR coating is mostly providing a bluish attenuation. Much like sunglasses it filters the light transmitting through it, and filters light reflecting off it. After removing the blue stuff you could argue that you don't need a screen protector at all. Nonetheless, I wanted a fresh new look, as well as some protection for the actual screen. I bought two different products to try. The first product (Speck for Nook) had a nice matte finish, but it was difficult to install. I ruined both sheets trying to get all of the bubbles and dust specs out from under it. Finally I tried a Targus product that is less matte but it advertised many of the properties I was looking for: scratch resistance, bubble-free, fingerprint resistant, anti-glare, and film edges stay put. I'll follow with a few photos of the results.
