Default Oil level monitoring

Q5 2.0 TDI: To monitor the oil level, message saying: "There is currently no information available on the engine oil level"
Have tried to monitor oil level when engine is cold, after warm up, and wait two minutes after engine is stopped.

If that's the proper way to check then why wouldn't Audi just put a dipstick in the engine to make it much easier?

We agree, what happened to dipsticks? But since they are not there here is the Audi technical proceedure:

Car has to be completely warm, gauge in middle temp range.
Turn car off make sure on level surface.
Wait 2 minutes then turn key to accessory position (engine not on)
Get into MMI (engine oil level section)
Information should be there

Hope this helps,

You can put the dipstick -p/n 06E 115 611 H.

opening the hood "re-sets" the computer system.

Anyone has the dipstick here? Can you tell me is there any difference in the level between the computer & the dipstick?

Sorry, the P/N above is for 3.2L engine only, I did not pay attention to the original post which says 2.0 TDI engine...

You might be able to use the 06J115611E but this is only applicable to the A3 and TT 2.0L. We have not seen them work in the Q5's. You could probably use it by noting the level on the dipstick then reading the MMI and marking and calibrating it according. We have sold a few of the actual tools we use to read the oil levels. They can not be run in the car but at least you can check the oil the "old fashion way". The tools run about $200with freight--OUCH.
You’re not the only one wondering why Audi did away with the dipsticks but the computer read out is always dead on. Hope you were able to get a read out.
