Default Need help with brake pads replacement..

Hello,

I own a 2015 Audi Q5 premium plus 2.0T and it's time for me to change my front and reader brake pads. The dealership gave me a quote of $1600 for front & rear brake pads and rotors replacement. I am thinking about getting the replacement instead at a local brake shop. I don't want to go with some cheap aftermarket brake pads and I am doing research on what are some of the best pads made for Audi Q5.

Akebono sounds like a good name and I tried to look up parts online at https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/c3...57393026014734
The thing is that this link has so many Akebono products with same name (Akebono ProAct Ultra Premium Ceramic Brake Pads) but different part number and I don't really know what are the differences and which one will be compatible with my car.

I also tried to look up parts from Brembo at https://www.brembostoreusa.com/produ...99&clev=0&hs=1. Can I use brake pads in this link?

I'd love to hear advices/recommendations on what brand/specific brake pad products do you guys use on your cars. Thank you all very much!

Try www.ecstuning.com and www.fcpeuro.com you can give them your VIN number to double check the pads you chose fit your car.

Use the OEM Audi brakes/rotors and buy it from Audi Beaverton who sells at wholesale prices. I just bought the parts from them for $700 and the install from my indy is $300. $1000 total for the exact same thing your dealer would do for $1600.

In case you're interested, here are the parts, part numbers, and prices for my 2014 Q5 2.0T. No one is beating these prices for OEM parts not through a 3rd party.

$218.50 8R0-615-301-G ROTIBRAKE DISC
$1.48 N-106-483-01 BOLT
$105.80 8R0-698-151-L BRK LINING
$69.00 8R0-615-121 SENDER
$19.24 N-911-476-01 BOLT
$17.25 G-052-150-A2 LITH. GREASE
$165.60 8K0-615-601-M ROTIBRAKE DISC
$1.48 N-106-483-01 BOLT
$9.06 N-911-268-01 SCREW
$4.94 N-910-417-02 SCREW
$93.15 8K0-698-451-B BRK LINING

$4.94 N-910-417-02 SCREW
$93.15 8K0-698-451-B BRK LINING
Good list.
You can save even more going aftermarket and even get free lifetime replacement on anything you buy from FCP Euro.
Example:
$81.60 8K0-615-601-M Zimmerman rotors x2
$2.48 N-106-483-01 Rotor retaining bolts. x2 front (Which if not bent or broken can be re-used)
$68.53 8R0-698-151-L Pagid pads (or pick another brand)
$27.62 8R0-615-121 Pad wear sensor. (look around a bit more you can find these even cheaper.)
$12.20 N-911-476-01 Caliper carrier bolts x4
$14.63 G-052-150-A2 Assembly grease
$81.60 8K0-615-601-M Zimmerman rotors x2
$2.48 N-106-483-01 Rotor retaining bolts. x2 (Which if not bent or broken can be re-used)
$23 N-911-268-01 Caliper carrier bolt x4
$15.08 N-910-417-02 Caliper mounting bolts x4( Can be re-used if you re-apply loctite, these are not stretch bolts.)
$51.52 8K0-698-451-B Textar pads (Or pick another brand)
Only run you about $380 in parts and an almost unreal lifetime warranty. Buy brakes once and never pay for them again!
Save even more by finding cheaper pad sensors and the $0.50 packet of assembly lube at the parts counter.

I replaced my 2014 Q5 brake pads/rotors last March by myself all 4 wheels with Brembo ceramic pads and Zimmerman Z coated rotors for $430 including the Fedex shipping on those very heavy rotors.
