Audi Connect and not 4g or 4LTE in Q5
Is anyone else disappointed that Audi Connect in the 2015 Q5 isn't 4g or 4lte like the new A3? Seems to me that it would be nice to have seen the upgrade in the 2015 models. A bit surprised they had it in the A3 and not other cars.
Thoughts?
How many of you use audi connect and does the speed bother anyone?

The 2015 Q5 is a 2013 facelift of a 2009 model, so it's not surprising it doesn't have LTE. The A3 is the first next-gen vehicle released after they started doing LTE, so it gets it first (as well as I'm sure they're trying to boost interest in the A3 by pushing a lot of newer tech into it). I would expect every other next-gen vehicle to get it as well, which means when the 2016/2017 second-gen Q5 is released here it'll most likely have it.

Spijun, here are your pics of the new MMI, from your original post (saves a few clicks)

It really doesn't have anything to do with sales, it has everything to do with having to redesign the vehicle to support the new MMI system. You can't just yank the current head unit out and pop the new one in, all the connected systems have to be updated to support it as well. As the MQB vehicles rollout, so will the new MMI system.

There are also contractual considerations with the providers. The new MMI 4G on the A3/S3 uses AT&T vs. the 3G Nav Plus with T-Mobile on others. There could be some contract period restraints for Audi to be able to switch to AT&T on other models.

I used it extensively driving to Florida this summer. I was connected to my employers network while my wife was driving, passing some very large files and while it was slow, I never had to restart an upload because the connection was lost.
The downside, I saw several times where the connection dropped from 3G to 2G.
On the plus side, while slow, it was much better traveling at 75mph, instead of being stopped at a Starbucks using their hotspot.
Do I wish it were faster? Sure, but as multiple posters have identified the A3 is a new design, the 2015 Q isn't … yet.
