Anyone think Audi might bring a 2.0 TDI in the Q5 to NA?

Im awaiting a 2.0 TFSI but would wait for a 2.0 TDI,, the 3.0 TDI is just to expensive for what it is and I love fuel economy more than power.

If the 2015 A4 has an optional 2.0 TDI certified for USA then it might become an option on the Q5. This is pure speculation.

It's unlikely given the certification costs. The Q3 should have a 2.0 TDI (hopefully at launch), but I would be surprised about the Q5 getting a 5th engine option (4 is already a bit surprising). That being said, you never really know, if Audi sees a large market for a 2.0 TDI Q5 then they'll bring it at some point.

Also, the 3.0TDI gets almost the same real world mpg as the 2.0TDI...
There are a few UK owners of 2.0TDIs that wish they'd gone for the 3.0TDI and got the power with little to no economy penalty...
It basically comes down to the fact that the 3.0TDI has so much low end torque you don't have to give it much right foot when cruising compared to the 2.0TDI which requires more welly to get it to go at a reasonable pace...

There is one important argument besides fuel economy - engine weight. 2.0 TDI is much lighter than 3.0.

Imports from Europe is not worth, because higher prices

Example
TDI
US price: Q5 3.0 TDI Premium plus Starting at $46,500
Europe price: 3.0 TDI quattro S tronic 50.250,00 EUR = $69,300

TFSI
US price 2.0 TFSI Starting at $37,300
Europe price: 2.0 TFSI quattro tiptronic 44.800,00 EUR = $61,400

+1

Plus the difference in price of 7,800 Euros for 3.0TDI

How much kilometers for the difference in price

all I can say is it sure would be nice to have the 2.0 TDi here and at the same price as the 2.0 TFSI ( I understand they are both nearly equal in production costs).

I agree it would be nice to have the 2.0 TDI but I also agree that it is highly unlikely in the Q5.

The 3.0 TDI is a good match for the Q5 but I think it would be too heavy in the Q3. I'm guessing the Q3 will have the 2.0 TDI option. If so, I just might jump over to a Q3 if it also has the twin clutch transmission. I've been sorely disappointed so far with the power delivery of my Q5 2.0T with 8-speed. The 2.0T was powerful and smooth in my A3 with DSG transmission but it feels much less refined in the Q5, especially below 2000 rpm.
