Default On Order: Q5 TDI (Finally!)

After many years of drooling over the Q5, my wife and I finally pulled the trigger this weekend. We ordered a TDI Premium Plus in Brilliant Black with MMI, Sport Interior, S-Line+ and B&O audio. With the supplier discount and loyalty rebate, I'm feeling good about the final price.

And now I must endure 12 long weeks of waiting...

Between now and then, I plan on identifying the most effective protection for the scratch-illuminating paint. I've seen a few threads on the subject, so I have some reading to do.

I'm also curious to know if anyone out there can recommend a manufacturer of genuine carbon fiber parts to replace the interior aluminum accents. What can I say...I'm a sucker for carbon fiber (so long as it's genuine and well made).

I've been a lurker here for quite some time. Thanks for all of the great forum posts that helped us make our final decision.

Congrats, that will look mean!

I think ocarbon.com did them for the Q5, but I don't see it on their site. Shoot them an email to find out.

Similar Q7 for reference:

Checkout 3M Paint Protection Films. I have it on both my Audi's. They will have a new generation of it out soon too. They also have a new spray on film that is a do it yourself product. It's supposed to be good for at least a year. I saw it on a friend's red Z06 vette and it looked really good (almost invisible). If you use the spray on, apply it over wax. If you use film, no wax. If you try applying the film yourself, it can be a little tricky, like window film. They do stand behind their products.
**Disclaimer - I'm a 3M employee, but not involved with sales or this product.

Oh, wow! That Q7 image just got me even more excited about our purchase! I've never seen our specific configuration outside of the Audi.com rendering. That Q7 is beautiful! And I love the touch of red on the side (S-Line logo). Now I'm even more impatient!

Thanks, everyone. We're very excited. This is the first new car either one of us has ever purchased. We're a one-car couple living in Boston. Our 2003 A4 has served us well (we bought it pre-owned in 2004), but we'll be trading it in once the Q5 arrives.

I'll check out oCarbon (are they known for quality craftsmanship?) and the 3M films. I think I've seen some others mentioned in these forums, but I haven't had the time to browse yet.
