Default Shock & Horror, damage to my dash

I've been using a suction cup mount on my Lexus GX for years without any problems. But after a week on the Audi dash, it left a permanent ring! Ouch!

I used some goo gone to remove any sticky substance, then cleaned it but no luck. Looks like the dash is made of some kind of dense spongy material.

is it a stain or an indention? If an indention, it may just take some time to relax.

Looks like an indent? Try leaving it in the sun. The same goes for leather seat indents. It'll pass. Definitely keep an eye on it though. If you see the sun is helping, try some intervention with some light heat from a hairdryer.

Not sure, Don. Could be that the sticky stuff on the cup soaked into the dash. It does look like a slight imprint.

Going to take it to some detail guys that perform a wide range of stuff for the high end car dealers.

That's a good idea. Can't imagine what a new dash costs.

You might want to try one of the iOttie vent clips in the future. I picked up the magnetic version after hearing all the praise and awesome reviews here in the forums. It's a great way to have a spot for your phone without any potential damage to the car.

iOttie iOttie iTap Magnetic Air Vent Mount for iPhone 6/6 Plus/5s/5c, Galaxy Note 4/3, Galaxy S6/ S6 Edge/5/4

Fingers crossed your spot is just an indention and disappears!

A new dash is $1,760.00 not including labor and doctors bills for the stress involved.
