Wish me luck
I leave this Friday from Wisconsin in my 2011 2.0 q5 with 40 K mile for a month long trip. We drive from here to Bellingham WA and then get on the Alaskan ferry with the car for a 3 day trip to Haines AK. From there, we tour alaska and then head back to WI. My best guess is that we will put 7700 mi on the odometer.
Hopefully the ride time will not kill my wife and I.

Yes, I agree that the Q5 is a great road trip car. Comfortable and reasonably good fuel economy, I have been getting 28-31 mpg in cruise at 70 on 250 mi trips.

Great Trip
Have a great trip....Sounds like fun. One word of advice, if I may. When your wife says shes ready to stop at a motel, do not press on to the next town or campgrounds...Start looking right then. Not doing this almost cost me my marriage on a trip up HWY 1 in California once.

Wish me luck - Alaskan trip update
Update on Alaska trip:
I drove 8200 miles, got 29.2 mpg, and averaged 57 mph.
The car ran perfectly and was extremely comfortable.
I had an oil change in Anchorage and complained about oil consumption of 1 qt every 3000 miles. They changed the pressure regulating valve and a seal. 4500 miles later and I have still not used a drop of oil.
The windshield protected us a few times from rocks in construction zones, so the glass will be replaced in the next week or so.
Great car for long trips!!!!
