I like the 2017 Lava Gray Pearl color but it is not offered for 2018 Q5 at launch. Any insight as to whether it may be offered later after launch? My dealer says that he does not think that other colors will be added after launch and that custom paint orders cost $2500 additional.

I'm in the same boat, I quite like Sepang Blue, but that's not offered on the new SQ5. Ended up ordering Daytona Grey because Navarra Blue is purple to my eyes.

If you look at the first gen Q5's lifespan, a lot of color options have come and gone. I'm sure it's safe to say that no new colors will be added within the first year, but I would expect them to change up the offerings as time goes on to keep things fresh. That said, doesn't mean Lava specifically would become available.

I feel the same way about Navarra - wouldn't work for me. I like more gray-ish blues.

Check out the Audi Germany configurator, they have it in English.
The number of wheel and color choices, and also the ability to get individual options far exceeds what I've seen offered in the U.S. guide.

Given the build is in Mexico, not sure why those options also would not be available here? I would really like to see the Quantum Grey with the Black package! And they get to pick from 7 different wheel combinations...

If you asked Audi USA/Canada, I'm sure they'd chalk it up to more "production constraints" at the new factory.

Impressive going through the German configurator, reminds me of the Porsche configurator. So much flexibility to the build. Wish we got that in North America without going through Exclusive.

Looks like there are NO choices for light color interior in 18' SQ5!... only dark. Seems shortsighted by factory.
Other limits too...I hear....no trailer hitch foe SQ5... is new Mexico factory that limited ?

You can get a trailer hitch for the SQ5. It is installed at the port.

Where did you get this info from. It's not available on the latest Order Guide. Reportedly it will be added soon but as of today it can't be added to an order on the SQ5.
