Default 07 3.6. Key not being recognized?

Hey all...

Puzzle that needs more heads involved.

I had the battery changed on my q last month.

When all was done, they put the key in. It didn't do that click/grab that you'd expect.

For a while, it was an intermittent problem. So you can't start the truck. it'd work here and there, but the inconsistency made it terrible.

It seems to have been behaving over the last few weeks, so i'm left wondering what the heck is going on.

Anyone have any input?

Where did you have the battery change? Did they reset the computer? Maybe start changing the key battery and see if it helps.

Thought about that too, but isn't the key itself a passive coded item? Meaning the battery is only for the button functionality?

I remember in my old allroad the chip was a little seperate tube. But I haven't opened the key for the Q7 yet so I simply put it out there as a possibility that the new keys have the chip integrated with the board.

You could be right. I was comparing it to my old bmw's key.

Seems my secondary key works consistently.

First key is on the fritz i guess.

Will change the battery just for ****s and giggles- maybe it fixes.

Update - battery change was a longshot, and problem still exists.

Will have to get new key.
