I just put the 21" S-Line rims on my ride with some Pirelli tires and I have not noticed any difference in ride quality. The only downside to the set up is the traction the 21" tires provide vs the 19" tires. Other than that I did not change a thing. Best of luck with your purchase.

Well the size of tires that will fit the stock Q7 with the 21" wheels only allows for a "low profile" tire ... Which do not offer the traction you would get from an all-terrain tire.

Thanks for that
i didnt realise i would have thought it would have given more due to amount of rubber in contact with the road due to the width as may have made the ride nosier and stiffer thats why i am causious as like the current ride setup quiet and comfortable and like most of us never really go off road for long

I bought a 2010 tdi s line with 21" wheels that had half worn pirellis. The ride was so stiff I couldn't handle it. I found some oem 20" and put on michelin latitude 275/45/20 and the ride is 10x better. Only problem is that my dealer cannot get the vehicle aligned properly. I'm taking back tomorrow for the third attempt, they are going to put on some loaner wheels to see if it is indeed my tire and wheel set up causing the problem. I'd like to run 40 series tire on my 21" s line wheels but i cant find a solid answer on if they fit.

so why would you say the downside is loss of traction if you haven't noticed any?
