Hi Guys,

Please bear with me as I am new to this forum.

I recently bought a 2007 Audi Q7.

I seem to be having issues with the Radio on the MMI. The problem is when the key is inserted the radio works fine but no sooner the car is started, all the FM channels are distorted.

I tried the old key and the Radio still does not work. There was no issues with the radio till the new key was programmed and inserted, I think.

This is the effect with both, the old & new keys.

I have tried re-setting the MMI display & re-tunning all the channels but still no luck.

Can you please advise what I should do next.

Does it still sound distorted if you turn on the ignition but do not start the engine?

No the sound is fine when I turn the ignition but it gets distorted as soon as I start the engine

Is the sound Ok if you use a different source - AMI, TV tuner etc...?

Apologies as I did check the key this morning and the radio works well when the key is inserted but once you make a turn it is distorted. So it only works when the key is inserted
This particular model does not have a TV tuner or AMI
The GPS and the rest of the MMI system works except for the radio. It comes on but sounds distorted

So does the sound become distorted as the ignition is turned on or when the engine is actually started?
It sounds like it could be related to a fault with the charging circuit or alternator if it is fine until the engine is actually running, otherwise it could simply be a fault with the radio antenna and signal amplifier.

There may well be some codes if you can get it connected to a code reader....

Tomorrow I am taking it to the Audi dealer to check
