Default 2009 Audi Q7 Prestige MMI AMP failure

Good Morning,

My wife's MMI crapped out last week. Dealer says the amp and the telephone control module are both bad .

My plan is to take the amp out and have it rebuilt and then recoded to the car...

is there a way to bypass the telephone control module?

I have read several threads about water damage to the amp, but dealer says he didnt find any... hmmm

I will put in a fiber optic loop in place of the amp and hopefully the rest of the MMI will work, minus the radio of course...

If you have a Pano roof, I would be checking very closely because there is a chance of a warranty claim.....

most likely water ingress caused the short. easiest way to trace a leak is to buy a gallon or two of the cheap washer fluid. pour all over the roof and then look by the spare tire, along the rear fuse panel.

if you're out of warranty it's in the best interest of the tech and the writer to not look for any signs of water damage. very costly repair out of pocket. (even if you're out of warranty this is a known issue going back to 2007. aoa generally picks up the tab providing there is no physical evidence that the vehicle was in an accident or tampered with etc.)

if you find it and you point it out to them or go to another dealership.

Any idea where the Telephone control module is? is that the Bluetooth module? Is it next to the Amp in the back?

i am not 100% certain but i believe one under the left seat (4F0-910-336-HX) another in the hatch however a member on here (markitzero) had his fail and if i recall correctly his piece was located by the front dome light.

Got both the PNs from the dealer... 4f0910336hx is the phone module... now i just have to find it

I see there is software from Ross Tech to do coding, can i recode it with that?

VAG COM... i am used to doing INPA with BMW... but i assume its similar..
