Default 2013 Nav operation question

we just bought a used 2013 Q7 and I'm trying to set the NAV. my question, how do you get the screen to move automatically as you are driving??
ours just goes right off the screen as we drive and have to move the screen with the wheel. can't see where we're going. didn't have this problem with the old 2007 NAV.
got to be a setting somewhere.. I've played with it and can't seem to fix it. maybe I should get the factory settings and start all over...

I'm not quite sure from the top of my head which MMI the 2013 Q7 has, but the map stands still if you place the crosshair to inspect a specific part of the map. In my car the crosshair is moved with the black joystick on top of the MMI rotary ****. You get out of the crosshair mode, but pressing the return button. If you are in crosshair mode it will look something like this. Not your MMI, but that's the first pic I found showing the crosshair. There are also options in the settings by which you can control the orientation, but none of them should cause the map not to move.

Its almost like the receiver doesn't know the car is moving.. Maybe there is a disconnect somewhere?
