Default 2013 and Newer Steering Wheel Upgrade

I'm new to the Audi family, coming over from sibling, VW.

I'm looking to retrofit a new steering wheel to take place of the the 4-spoke wheel with heat in my 2013 Q7.

I'd like to get the thicker 3 spoke, but cannot seem to find a S-line from a Q7 that has heat. Was the cold weather package not an option on the S-line? Or if it was, was the heated steering wheel not an option?

A search on ebay shows a few versions that appear compatible. Does anyone know if the newer style wheels from other Audi versions would fit the Q7?

Here's an example of what I'm look at getting...

Any feedback is appreciated. Cheers!

The heated steering wheel is the four spoke style, same if you have lane assist.

The three spoke is never heated.

When I was shopping for my (used) Q7 I was not able to find the 3 spoke wheel with heat. When I was looking through specifications and option sheets, it looked to me that at least for 2011-2013 (which is what I was shopping for) it was not a combination that was offered.

While the Cold Weather package included heated 4-spoke steering wheel, when combined with S-Line you got the nicer 3-spoke steering wheel but with no heat. In other words, the 3-spoke wheel in the S-Line package deleted heating in the wheel.

OK, great. That makes sense based on what I've read. It certainly doesn't make sense why Audi would go this route since other models have sport 3-spoke wheels with heat, but that's a different story all together.

Next question, are wheels from other models compatible with the Q7?

Here are a few that I'm looking at:

Any thoughts?

OK, I went with a three-spoke wheel that I got overseas. Despite the sellers response that both the wheel and airbag will work with the 13 Q7, the wheel does not.

Even with the swapping of the airbag wiring harnesses, none of the MF buttons work on the wheel.

Any thoughts? Here's the wheel I purchased: OEM Multifunction Steering Wheel Audi with DSG Paddles for 200.00 ? - 3X Spoke Rounded Steering Wheels

you have to use VAG-COM cable to enable all of the wheel functions on the new steering wheel that your old steering wheel did not have. It's not quite a simple plug and play but not that difficult either.

That would make sense if my old wheel did not have MF control, but it does. All of the feature sets are the same. I was merely moving from a 4 spoke wheel to a 3 spoke wheel.

Why would there be any coding changes? No new functions were added/changed.

Perhaps the new airbag had something to do with it...
