Had the same rattle on start up. I just had my car in yesterday and they replaced a fuel tank locking flange bracket that holds lines going into the fuel tank and re-zip tied the associated lines. No more rattle. Although the car smells like fuel which I'm told will disapapte. Will see.

Read through this thread , especially my post with before and after videos . It’s now been 45,000 miles since my upper chain tensioners were replaced. No further rattle on start up.

I posted into this thread back in 2016 when my Q7 was having this problem. I drove it until July 2022, when I traded it on something else. It had 155K miles when I let her go. I never fixed the rattle and while I never had any issue, after 11 years of ownership and 155K miles on the clock, I felt it was time to move on as my luck was probably wearing thin. I never had the repair priced out at the dealership, but I did have it priced out at my local German auto shop. They said the books for the repair spec'd 48hours of labor and that with parts was an almost $8K repair. Totally not worth it, for me. So I just drove it until I traded it. Hopefully in later versions of this motor they fixed this problem. Good luck to all who still have the issue.
