Default 3.6 surging idle

Hi guys new to the forum. My sister has bought a 2007 Q7 with the 3.6 in it. Aside from wanting to pilfer her engine for my Jetta, I want to keep it in excellent running condition for her. I'm pretty good on VW's and know my way around them, but I'm new to the 3.6 and haven't come across this one before. After it warms up and you drive it, and put it back in park, it will sit and rev itself to ~12-1600 rpm then fall back to idle, then repeat over and over until you either shut it off and restart or put it back in gear. I did clean her throttle body today as it was a little sluggish to rev, and a tiny spark in the back of my mind hoped that it was the fix for that too but nope, and I knew better. Can anybody point me in the correct direction on this one?

I believe there is a factory re-flash for idle issues on the 3.6. May be worth a shot, it was a warranty/recall type of thing.

Ok I'll have them reflash it because it's going to the dealership to get an amplifier replaced anyway. The lot she bought it from had installed an aftermarket one and while we were on test drive the CEL came on and the second a scanner was plugged in the screen went blank, no audio and a loud pop came over the speakers. They knocked a couple grand off the price and said they would pay for the dealer to install an amp so she went ahead with the deal. It's an awesome vehicle but it has the "crayon smell" really bad. Which is funny because the MK4 VW's were notorious for that and neither of the 2 I own have ever smelled of it lol.

I think the reflash was for the powertrain control module, which had to do with rough idle, jerky acceleration during the first minute or so after a cold start. We apparently dealt with that issue, and our car wasn't part of the recall or something. It was intermittent enough that it didn't matter. With regard to the surging engine, I'm curious as to which codes are in there if you can check. It could be a camshaft actuator?

There is no CEL associated with this one unfortunately. I wish I hadn't sold my Snap On Verus.
