My warning came on saying I had 1,000 miles until empty. I added Qty 2 of the 2.5 Gallon containers. I also have a VW TDI Passat which took about 2 Gallons. I ended up adding the remainder to my Q7. It would be nice to know how full the tank is.

[I]@AudiFreak666 "Never been a TDI owner but always thought it was a great option for a big heavy car[I]. I test drive a Q5 TDI and thought it was a lot of fun. I almost ordered a Q5 TDI. Family has grown and I am waiting out for the 2016 Q7. I am thinking of going the TDI route. I remember when I wanted to put in an order for the Q5 TDI, I called the dealer and asked them how much it would be if I had to re-fill the AdBlue when it came time to do that...it was absurdly expensive!"

My response : You can do the refill of either Ad Blue or DEF on your own, as both are ISO 22241-1 certified and contain 32.5% UREA on the container.

That was a post from December of 2014 so I suspect he's figured that out by now.

My question to the Q7 owners, is it a simple task to fill up the Q7 with AdBlue? Is there a certain brand to use or doesn't matter?
Also, the glo plug thing, how long do those last and any major issues with them? I've read threads where TDI owners had issues with those plugs not working and the warning symbol comes up on the dash.
In my opinion having the dealer refill the AdBlue is the biggest waste of time and money going. I go to Walmart and get DEF in 2.5 Gal size for $11.00. I always buy 2 and refill both my 2012 Q7 and 2013 Passat. Takes like 10 mins start to finish.

As for the glow plugs I had an issue with my 2012 Jetta Wagon. Come to find out my wife would just start the engine with waiting for the glow light to go out on the dash. Haven't had any issue since.

Mine has 600 miles to empty, I put in 2.5 gallons and my dash flashed on the first start up - 20500 to empty. So I guess that should be enough without worrying if it is full.
