Never mind. I had to call RedPocket to add the data to my sim card. Now it works without changing any settings etc...

I've had my RedPocket $5/mo plan now for 3 months - no issues whatsoever. If you don't use your vehicle's connection for tethering then the 500MB plan should be fine.

$5 a month is very good....

we just added it to our shared ATT plan for $10 a month. Get them to give you a tablet sim card (not a phone sim card as they charge more for phone connections). We have a 2015 Q7 and it was 100% plug and play. The coverage in our area is 100x better for ATT 3G as opposed to Tmobile.

Can't wait for the 4GLTE in the 2016 as my kids use it all the time for tables/streaming etc.

just activated my red pocket SIM, 2014 A6. powered off car, changed SIM, powered on car, everything configured automatically. works great!!! wow .. $5/mo for connect ..(512 meg plan) .. is great.. since I have my 4g smartphone, this is kind of a backup and for when I want google search on the audi .. not worth $15/month but definitely worth $5 .. too bad I don't see a pay as you go, and I'd just buy megs of data which would be better than monthly .. cust. serv. said dealers have pay as you go, not sure if my SIM can do that. bought the standard SIM (which is different # of pins (fewer, actually) than the T-mobile SIM, but it worked).

Truphone you buy a sim card for $29.99 get $15 credit and you only pay for what you use. I've had the plan since the beg. of April and I've used $1.03. I'm pretty happy...

thanks .. mostly I wanted to just make sure something worked before I let my t-mobile card expire .. that's not a bad deal (will have to check their rates) .. 3 years of $5 / mo is still $180, so if I could spend half that or less, it's not a bad deal .. thanks for pointing it out!

hey, that's pretty cool .. looks like the truphone SIM does not expire as long as it's used every 180 days. At $0.09/MB, it's about the same rate as red pocket (roughly .. $4.50 for 500 megs vs. red pocket which is $5 for 512 meg), but pay as you go is better for when you're not using it .. very cool .. thanks...

I just added a mobile hotspot to my AT&T plan, the "Velocity" mifi unit, and the SIM also seems to work just fine in my S5 (had to pick up a SIM adapter on amazon for $6). Adding the mifi to my plan cost me $10 a month, and uses the same data plan that I currently have. So, for that $10/month, I have the convenience of a hotspot when in airports, traveling, and can also use it in the Audi when on trips. Perfect solution for me.

No question that the T-Mobile service provided with the 2015 Q7 is severely lacking. Have you ever tried to do Facetime with 2G or 3G? Not satisfactory!

When the free trial runs out, I have an iPad with ATT 4G LTE and lots of data that can be activated as a hotspot for my passenger(s). That sure looks like the obvious replacement to me. Better coverage and faster service.
