Default Blinking Dash Lights, No Start, and Key Stuck WTF?

Coming down the highway after a 3 hour trip, gauges and dash lights start going on and off, windows don't work, crazy things start happening, but car is still running fine, pull over, shut car, re-start, car starts no issues, get home, turn car off, nothing works, no lights, won't start and key won't come out of the dash. Maybe some kind of anti theft , I'm stumped, car is completely dead now. 65,000 trouble free miles, now this.

key does not come out of ignition if power is dead.

guessing battery dead or alternator dead or bad ground but very difficult to tell without codes but start there. once you scan you will most likely have a cascade of fault codes. save them then clear and see which return.

Jump started it, fired right up, opened up battery box all looks good, charged battery and it took it, shows 14.1 volts charging good. The only code it shows after clearing is steering column alignment ? I'm stumped as to why it died while driving 3 hrs. on the highway, even if the battery was a little down 14.1 should have kept it charged ?

Look for loose terminals, corrosion, or perhaps failing alternator. scan for codes and you will most likely have a cascade of fault codes. save them then clear and see which return.

Default Steering column does have a sensor with the ignition...

I don't think it's the battery.

I think any fault codes would help here.....have it been checked yet?

I jumped it and got it running, so I could move the seat to access the battery, the I charged the battery overnight,Vag Com it's showing charging fine and no codes have showed, it's been 10 ten days and running great, very weird !

you can charge battery from the terminals that you used to jump the car.
