I think LED's should be reserved for the exterior of the vehicle. That bright white light is not an inviting look. Soft warm light is best for interiors.
It is preference but all NEW models have this look, so when you buy a new car in 2016 you won't be able to opt out of the bright clean white LED for dome lights, we feel they make a much cleaner look.

good write up. the dome in our 2016 q5 3L s line is one piece unlike the two piece shown in the post above.
i cant get the one piece off. anyone have ideas on where to poke and prod with the plastic tool set?
i found my own soln
the new q5 have one allen key screw to remove the from dome.
now i'm stuck, i cant remove the two rear seat lights. the covers come off easily, but i can find any means to remove the the assembly that holds the two bulbs . that has to be removed in order to get to the two bulbs and and screw them out/in
