Does a '08 or '09 Q7 need an ATF flush?
Hey everybody!
1- What kind of transmission model does a 2008/2009 Q7 get?
I guess 6-speeds VAG? (Not ZF?)
2-Does this trans. need an ATF flush at ~100k Miles?
If yes, should I go to an official Audi Dealer to do it? Cause I never go to an official dealer for maintenance... It will cost a lot more no?
Thanks in advance guys

Alright thanks, specifically a ZF 6HP19.
I will just wait for other replies for the fluid change and flush cause I'v read on this forum that a fluid flush should be done at 100k miles, no need to do something before for the trans.
A fluid change is pretty easy to do, but a fluid flush needs some costly equipment, does someone know if I should go to an official Audi Dealer to do it, cause I'm used to do basic maintenance in a "friend"'s garage.

I think you'll find that an official dealer will be reluctant to do a drain and refill, since they consider the tranny to be sealed and service free for life.
MB also used to say sealed and service free for life. After they had a bunch of trannys fail right after the factory warranty expired (I guess that was "life" for those trannys.), MB changed their recommendation to a fluid and filter change at 40k mile or 60k km.
I think that, if you check with any of the transmission manufacturers, they'll recommend a fluid and filter change every 40k miles.

ALL transmissions need fluid changes
There is a lot of heat and pressure in an automatic trans and NO fluid will last forever. I have changed the fluid in all my Audi's (4) with automatics over the years at each mile increment 75,000 miles. I have never had a trans issue with any of them and several have gone 200,000 miles before I sold them on. ZF wants to sell you a trans and Audi wants to sell you a new car.
If you think about what a trans is doing you will realize that heat and pressure break down all fluids, but then its your car, so feel free to proceed how ever you want, that's what I did!

Alright thanks...The car I'm gonna buy has around 75k miles so what I'm going to do is do an ATF change as soon as I buy it (if nothing has been already done of course).
I will keep the car ~50k miles.
Just to be sure: No need to do an ATF flush, one ATF change is enough?
