Since it is in the centre instrument panel (according to the doc that smith2010Q7 posted) on a LHD I would guess its the same for a RHD, maybe behind some switches or the ashtray etc?
Also see attached illustration (LHD) which shows the relay, number 3 in the pic.

Having jammed my camera up inside the dash i've found a panel with some relays on it...
It 'feels' like it has clips on to swivel and make access easier but i can only find one.
From right to left or front to back depending on your point of view i've got
643,404,404,643,444 Do those number actually mean anything...?

If you can get a part number out of there (any part) I could look it up and see if its the same location as the relay or not.

BTW I found out, the numbers mean something. You are looking for number 643.

404 is for the horn or coolant pump, 444 is for the ESP.
According to the parts catalogue, 643 could be either compressor or headlight washers if you have those, or "rear window". There is a location code listed as well, the one for the compressor is listed in location "1" - dunno what that means.

Can you see multiple 643s in there?

I replaced the relay and the compressor in the end.
It's not made any difference.
i'm still getting these codes even with a brand new compressor and temp sensor!

01583 - Leak in System Detected - this seems only to be since i took it off the car. I'm pretty sure there isn't a leak.

If you clear the codes, how long does the compressor run for before it cuts out and does it always report these two faults with the motor being obviously very hot to touch?
