DRL in my Q7 ('08)
Dear,
During the day I am curently using DRL, which are installed in the main front lamp. One thing I do not like, is that if it is switched on also rear lights are on. From MMI level I can only turn it on or off completely but not possible to stay with on in the front and off in rear.
Do you know any solution for it? I have heard that there are two systems of switching lights: Scandinavian and North American. I guess I have the 1st one installed already. Do you know how to change it.
Any sugesstions more than welcome!
Kind Regards
Paul

DRL's in North America do not turn on the rear lamps. Canadian and USA guidelines/regulations are the same for DRL's from what I recall (I used to have to add them to Freightliner's purchased in the USA and destined for Canada, took a new light harness and programming to the BHM).

I am sorry to be not clear enough. I am from Europe and according to the law in my country during the day it is allowed to use only front lights (back ones can be switched off).
In my car (2008) I have it installed as bulbs in the main reflector, not as a LED lights like it is in version 2009+. In my case the issue is only to switched off back lights and let front’s lights working. I am sure that it can be done but I don’t know how to do this. Hopefully changing of wiring is not necessary but from MMI I cannot do that. New coding of the module? I don’t know…
Any advices in the subject?
Thanks!

I'm in the UK and our DRLs are front only. I've switched mine to use the rear lights as well. I think you are trying to turn your rear lights off, correct?
Can be done without a wiring change, but you need VCDS. You can set the country code to RoW (as we have here) and the rear's will go off. I have mine set to Northern Europe which I assume is what yours is currently set to.
Info on what to change is on the Ross-Tech site here Audi A6 (4F) Central Electronics - Ross-Tech Wiki (A6 and Q7 are the same controllers on that model year)

Hi Dave!
Yes, you are right I would like to do exacetelly oposit you did, just switch off the rear lights.
I like you answer very much, without wiring change is a good news. Unfortunately I do not have VCDS but I know one person, who has it, so I will try to ask him about checking my current coding. Let me be back here if I have the results.
Thanks a lot for your kind help!

Hello again!
Finally I am back, so my current coding of 09: Cent. Elect. module is:
Part No SW: 4F0 910 279 K HW: 4F0 907 279
Component: ILM Fahrer H18 0250
Revision: 00000000
Coding: 0013122
Subsystem 1 - Part No: 4L1 910 113
Component: Wischer AU716 H17 0100
Coding: 00022806
Subsystem 2 - Part No: 4E0 910 557 B Labels: 8K0-955-559.CLB
Component: REGENLICHTSENSORH13 0100
Coding: 00150059
Dave, please correct me if I am wrong, I should change coding of the main controller not coding of Subsystem 1 / 2, right?
According your direction, my new coding should be: 0013121? Am I right?
Thanks a lot!
Paul
