Glove box won't open
For no particular reason today, the glove box won't open. I push the button next to the MMI and the latch for the glove box clicks, but it doesn't fall open. I tried to simultaneously pry it open with fingers and objects, but it is latched closed tightly.
I think the owners manual had something about a manual release, but unfortunately the owners manual is in the glove box! Does anybody know how to open this?
Thanks

When I had to connect up a gateway 500...
fitted behind the glove box, there are 3 torx screws beneath the glove box (always accessible) and 3 above (only accessible when open). Also, remove the fuse box cover to the side for access. I didn't know of a manual release. On my A8, if a cable gets trapped in the door when the box is closed it jams. A sharp slap from the hand while pressing the button normally releases it. HTH.

Can't find the fuse box access
I found the torx screws, but I am away from home and don't have my tools with me.
So I went looking for the side access, but on the left side of the glove box is the center console, and on the right when the door is open it is solid, save for a louvered vent hole.
The smack method failed. I was hitting it so hard I was fearful that I was going to set off the air bag above it.
Thanks for your help.

My wife just got it open
As I was typing the previous message, my wife came up from the garage with the news that SHE successfully opened it. She used the key to pry the door forward while pressing the button, and it popped open.
She's not going to let me forget this...

There is an emergency release...
1) Open passenger door
2) pry off the fuse panel cover (your key works well)
3) Insert tool to depress the locking pin

Glove box how to open
Find one of the hinges under the glove box, pull towards you, press the button, hey presto!
